Rebecca Burt Ray

August 31, 1962January 20, 2020

Becky was born on August 31, 1962 to Emuel and Grace Burt in Austin, Texas. She was a graduate of Crockett High and attended The University of Texas at Austin. She worked her dream job at Southern Floral Company in Austin where she was a Customer Service Manager. Becky LOVED her job! She was strong supporter of the Texas State Florists and floral education. She truly loved working with the high school floral teachers and students pursuing TSFA floral certifications.

Becky married the love of her life Richard Ray on December 17, 2006. They shared the same passion for riding their 1993 Harley Davidson Ultra Classic Motorcycle. They enjoyed attending the annual R.O.T. Rally every year. They also shared the same passion for auto racing. They enjoyed attending the local dirt tracks as well as asphalt tracks where Becky once served as the trophy girl as a young child. On Sundays they could be found at home watching Nascar. Becky would be cheering on her favorite driver Kyle Bush. One of the things that Becky cherished most in life was the love from her Grandkids, Sebastian, Shelby, Sam and Crickett. Becky lived for these four grandkids. They truly were her world.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, Emuel and Grace and two siblings, Velma Lucille Burt and Mary Elizabeth Burt. She is survived by her husband Richard, her sister Linda Larson and spouse, her brothers Bill Burt, Bubba Burt and spouse, Tommy Burt and spouse along with many nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.

Special thanks to Robert and Susan Weatherford of Southern Floral Company and Dawson and Leanne Clark of Highpoint Estates.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to TSFA an Education Scholarship in honor of Becky Burt Ray. If you would like to donate towards this scholarship, contributions may be made through Southern Floral Company or TSFA through February 28, 2020.

Becky was an extremely loyal and thoughtful friend. She cared so much about the people she worked with and made my days brighter with her stories. When I worked with her at Southern Floral, she would often surprise me with little gifts or treats she had picked up outside of work. I was so touched that she thought of me - she really made me feel like part of her family. I am so sorry to hear of her passing, I know how much she loved her family & friends and how missed she will be. I also know that she poured so much of her generosity into others that her spirit will live on.

Becky was an amazing friend that we will miss very much! We were blessed to have known her for over 17 years. Any time we’d talk to her the first thing she wanted to know was how were our nine kids. She would go down the list asking how each and every one of them was doing! We are going to miss going to ROT with her and Ricky every year! We love you to the moon and back forever and a day Becky! RIP until we meet again!

There are no words to explain how much Becky meant to me and how she changed my life. I learned so much about unconditional love from her. She would try and move mountains for those she loved, and be your biggest champion no matter how high or unrealistic the goal might have been, she was sure you could do it. She helped me graduate high school, and held my 4 month old baby up to watch me walk the stage. She helped me run the marathon of parenting when I was still a child myself with two toddlers. The world lost a heart bigger than the body that contained it with her passing. I love you Becky. So much more than you knew.

Becky was a force to be reckoned with...she was tiny in stature but, oh, so large in spirit and enthusiasm for Life!
She never failed to inquire about my life, my children, my work...always curious & genuine....and, with the exception of hearing about her bike trips and grandbabies, I regret to say I knew little about her life yet I know it was filled with stories, love and many laughs along the way!
God speed, sweet lady. I will miss you.

Becky was one of most caring person I have ever met. Every day she would greet people and ask then how they were doing and also to ask about there family and kids. She has been in my life now for 15years and I am a better person for it. She will always be a light in my life.
