So Wah Seto Chin was the eldest of four children born to Cheuk Kwong Seto and Nui Chuk Yee on March 1, 1930, in Hoiping, Kwang Tung, China. She entered into her new life with Christ at the age of 95, on July 24, 2025, in Austin, Texas.
So Wah was preceded in death by her loving husband Ken, son Sam, and her parents. She is survived by her loving children Brenda Chan (Steve), Robert (Bob) Chin (Sophia), Helen Chin, Mary Lee (Jim Q.), and Cheryl Lim (Jeff); her grandchildren Christopher Chan (Gretchen), Travis Chan (Michelle), Nick Chan, Danielle Chan, Samantha Lin (Banks), Cara Bradley (Spencer), Peter Chin (Mia), Stephanie Gee (Brandon), Nathan Lee, Meagan Lee (Joshua), and Olivia Lim; her great grandchildren Noah and Evelyne Chan, Easton and Adalaide Lin, Carolyn and Eleanor Bradley, Jacob, Anabelle, and Alyssa Gee, and Caleb and Hannah Lee; her siblings Tak Hung Seto (Sau Lin), Tak Lim Seto (Yuk Sheung, deceased), and So Sham Seto Eng (Jie Ming); and beloved nieces and nephews.
So Wah attended an all-girls school and later became a nurse. She practiced nursing in Hong Kong while her husband was in the United States and served in the US Army in Korea. They were reunited in 1955 and settled in San Antonio, where they started their family. She partnered with her husband as owners of Chin’s Food Store until they retired in 1997. She was a talented seamstress, an avid gardener who could grow anything, a wonderful cook, and loved hosting friends and family in her home. She enjoyed taking morning walks around the local high school track for the past 40 years, where she met friends and neighbors. She was a diehard Spurs fan, watching as many games as she could. She was always the loving and caring mother, PoPo, Ngin-ngin, and Bokbok to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved the Lord and thanked God every day for His blessings.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are her grandchildren: Christopher Chan, Travis Chan, Nick Chan, Danielle Chan, Brandon Gee, Joshua Lee, Banks Lin, and Spencer Bradley.
The family would like to thank Homewell Care Services in Austin, TX; our loving caregivers, Jackie Crenshaw and Linda Benitez, who cared for her tirelessly; and Hospice Austin, including Dr. Johnson Wu and nurse Katalin Herbowy.
