Tim was born on October 23, 1965, in Passaic, New Jersey, to Albert and Katherine Zyla. He grew up in Fairfield, New Jersey and spent the last 8 years of his life in Liberty Hill, Texas.
Tim was a beloved father, brother, friend, and member of the LIFEChurch family who will be remembered for his “larger than life” personality. Throughout his life, Tim was deeply committed to serving his community and giving back to others. He proudly served on the Fairfield Fire Department for nineteen years, including two years as Fire Chief, before continuing his commitment to public service with the West Caldwell Fire Department for another eleven years.
Tim was also involved in several other service organizations, including the Knights of Columbus and the Elks. Through his service, leadership, and willingness to give his time to others, Tim made a meaningful impact on all of the communities and organizations that he was part of.
Above all, Tim loved making people laugh and bringing people together. Some of his most cherished moments were spent making homemade pierogies with his family and gathering everyone for a party at the Double Z.
Tim is survived by his three children Ryan, Melissa, and Brandon Zyla; his mother, Katherine “Gingy” Zyla; as well as his siblings, Coleen Oyler, Jeffrey Zyla, and Dennis Zyla. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Zyla.
