Wilber Ortiz Perez age 86, retired purchasing agent, passed away on August 3, 2022 in Leander, Texas. Wilber was born on December 20, 1935 in Las Marias Mayaguez, Puerto Rico to Catalina Perez Cruz and Manuel Enriquez Ortiz Gonzalez.
Wilber attended Weshiva University and New York University (NYU) in New York City, New York. Wilber served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and enjoyed drawing, watching the NY Yankees, Crossword puzzles, Sudoku, and wood carving.
He loved his wife, all his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchild dearly. He loved his Yankees with all his heart and he was as passionate on game 1 as he was on game 162. For him there was never any other team but the Yanks. His happiest moments were when he took his wife and children camping every summer for two weeks to Seven Lakes (Sebago Beach). In last days he loved virtually traveling to Puerto Rico, New York, and many other distant countries through YouTube videos, and spending time with his wife and pet Lali.
Wilber is survived by his wife, Margarita Ortiz; his children, Ludivina Perez, Billy Ortiz, Lori Ortiz, Daryll Ortiz, Wiby Ortiz; from a previous marriage, Tony Ortiz, Joe Cianci, Anita Valentino, and Louis Ortiz; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; and his pet Lali.
Wilber is preceded in death by his son, Michael Ortiz; his brothers, Radames (Mike) Ortiz, Ildefonso (Cookie) Ortiz, and Manuel (El Negro) Enriquez Ortiz Jr; and his sisters, Liduvina Ortiz and Patria Ortiz.
A visitation for Wilber will be held Wednesday, August 10, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Weed Corley Fish Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, 1200 S. Bagdad, Leander, TX 78641.
