

Charles P. Eberhart, 88, Lebanon, passed away on Sunday April 5, 2015 of natural causes. He was the husband of Betty Lee Culver Eberhart with whom he would have celebrated a 68th wedding anniversary in June. He was born on May 10, 1926 in Wilmington, DE, a son of the late Charles A. and Ella Hunter Eberhart. He was retired from the Veterans Administration with 35 years of service. He served at the VA Medical Centers in Wilmington, DE; Chillicothe, OH; Outwood, KY and Lebanon, PA, retiring in 1981. He was the Chief of Personnel Service at the local medical center for 19 years. He served in the U. S. Navy in WW2 and was assigned to LST 1096 which operated in the Pacific Theatre. He served on the Advisory Committee to the Area Agency on Aging for 18 years. He also did volunteer work for the local Apprise Program for several years. He was very active in the local chapter of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees, having served as past President, 1st Vice-President for 17 years, Service Officer for over 20 years. He also was travel coordinator for the chapter for several years. He enjoyed cheering for the Phillies and watching his grandchildren play sports. In addition to his wife he is survived by children: Phillip W. Eberhart and wife Dena, Lebanon; Douglas K. Eberhart, Lebanon; Cathy L. wife of Stephen Kaninberg, Williamsport; Chuck K. and wife Cindy Eberhart, Lebanon; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister: Elieene Stone. Funeral services will be Friday at 9:00 A.M. in St. John’s UCC, 141 W. Main St., Fredericksburg, PA 17026 where a viewing will be held beginning at 8:00 A.M. There will also be a viewing on Thursday from 6 to 8 P.M. in the Rohland Funeral Home, 508 Cumberland St., Lebanon, PA 17042.
