

Emmanuel (Mike) Karanikas, 87, of Lebanon passed away peacefully in his residence surrounded by his loving family on Monday, October 17, 2011. He was the husband of Helen Haitos Karanikas with whom he was married for 60 years. He was born in Vissani, Epirus, Greece on February 17, 1924, son of the late Aristides and Agatha Igonomidi Karanikas. He retired as a partner of Lebanon Valley Engraving Inc. and was previously the general plant manager of Fine-Tex Co. Inc. Mike was a hard worker and loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his daughters: Mary Karanikas, Lebanon; Martha wife of Michael Petry, Lebanon; grandchildren: Christina, wife of Jason Martin, VA; Stephanie Petry, Allentown and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers Nicholas and Harilou Karanikas. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM in the Rohland Funeral Home, 508 Cumberland St., Lebanon where a viewing will begin at 10:00 AM. Interment will be made in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 1001 E. Wyomissing Blvd., Reading, PA 19611 or to the Compassionate Care Hospice, 1513 Cedar Cliff Drive, Suite 100, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
