

Fred B. Stickler Sr., 77, of Lebanon passed away Friday, May 27, 2011 in the Lebanon Good Samaritan Hospital surrounded in the comfort of his family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Mary E. Claybaugh Stickler of whom he was married to for 51 years. He was born in Lebanon on August 16, 1933, son of the late Ira Stickler Sr. and Katie Brubaker Stickler. He was a 1952 graduate of Lebanon High School where he was co-captain of the football team his senior year. Fred was a veteran in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was an active member of Tabor United Church of Christ, Lebanon. After serving his country he joined his father in the family contracting business, Ira R. Stickler and Son for over 60 years. He was also a member of the City Planning and Zoning Board and the current manager of the Lebanon Plaza Mall for over 30 years. Fred was an avid Phillies, Eagles, Flyers, Hershey Bears and NASCAR fan and enjoyed bowling. In addition to his wife he is survived by his sons: Fred B. Stickler Jr. and wife Susan, Lebanon; Brad R. Stickler and wife Jenny, Hanover; grandchildren: Nicholas Stickler, Mallory Stickler, Isaac Stickler, Dalton Stickler; sisters: Jeanette Reed and husband Ken, Myerstown; Bernetta Hower and husband Earl, Lebanon; Rosetta Bennethum, Newmanstown; sister-in-laws: Hilda Stickler and Jackie Stickler. He was preceded in death by his brothers Harry Stickler, Ira Stickler Jr. and sisters Laverne Hartmoyer and Arlene Boltz. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at 2:00 PM in the Tabor U.C.C., 124 S. 10th St., Lebanon where a visitation will begin at 12:00 PM until the time of the service in the Church. There will be NO VIEWING. Interment will be made in Grand View Memorial Park, Annville with full military honors. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the GSH Hospice, 202 Hathaway Park, Lebanon, PA 17042 or the Tabor U.C.C. Memorial Fund. The Rohland Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
