George Roland Smith, 97, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Sunday, September 7, 2025. He was born in Norristown, PA on January 17, 1928, to the late Sarah (Trump) and Augustus Smith. He is also preceded by his sister, Dorothy “Dottie” Brunner.

George was a longtime member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and attended Girard College in Philadelphia. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and would go on to work as a line supervisor for Met-Ed Utility. George was a life-long member of the Susquehannock Fly Fisher Inc. He loved fishing and enjoyed tying his own flies. He shared this passion with others by planning fishing trips. He always volunteered to assist the club whether it be stocking fish, organizing outreach or teaching fly casting.

George was married to the love of his life, Ruth “Peg” E. Schneider, for nearly 63 years before her passing on October 29, 2011.

He is survived by his son, David (Denise) Smith; granddaughters, Stephanie (Eric) Snyder, Angela (Tom) Barr, Erica (Steve) Coco and Alexis (Chris) Consalvo; a grandson, Kelly (Jamie) Glynn; 12 great grandchildren and 9 great great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at 11:00 am in the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 723 Lehman St., Lebanon. The viewing will begin at 10:00 am until the time of service. Interment will be made in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
