Harold G. “Bud” Getz, Jr., 67, Lebanon, passed away on Saturday August 6, 2022 while surrounded by his loving family. Bud was the husband of Laurel A. Stranick Getz, with whom he celebrated 18 years of marriage and 34 years of happiness and adventure together. Bud was born on October 12, 1954 a son of the late Harold G. Getz and the late Shirley D. Anspach Getz. He was a 1972 graduate of Lebanon High School and a graduate of Millersville University. Bud was a standout athlete while in High School who participated in many sports with football being the sport for which he is best known. Bud continued his football prowess while attending junior college and later at Millersville. He garnered many accolades during his career including All-American status three times. Never far from the sports arena, Bud coached at Millersville, Lebanon Valley College and at Lebanon High School. In 2004 Bud was recognized for his athletic accomplishments by being inducted into the Lebanon High School Athletic Hall of Fame and again in 2015 he was recognized with his induction into the Central Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of fame. Bud was a retired educator for the Lebanon School District with 36 years of service. During his time at Lebanon, Bud influenced many students in the classroom and on the field. Many students have recognized his no-nonsense style toward education immediately and years later. Bud was a loved and respected member of the Lebanon School District staff, whose contributions are immeasurable. In addition to his wife, Bud is survived by step-daughter: Emily Weaber; step-grandchildren: Alex Weaber and wife Rena; Ana Weaber; Kayleen Weaber; brothers; David and wife Darlene Getz; Jeffrey Getz; Dale and wife Lisa Getz; niece: Felicia Getz; numerous cousins as well as an untold number of extended family and friends. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday August 16, 2022 in the Lebanon High School Auditorium, 1000 S. 8th St., Lebanon, PA 17042 where a viewing will be from 9:00 am to the time of service. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions may be made in Bud’s memory to the Lebanon High School Athletic Department.
