Jean was a dedicated member of St. Matthews church, devoting much of her time preparing meals for the homeless, washing alter cloths and tending to the flowers on church grounds. She also enjoyed knitting and tending to her own home and garden.
Jean was a very proud and supportive grandmother, known affectionately as “Nan”. She enjoyed watching her grandson Damien play football and the Byle Boys (Justin, Scott and Greg) drive soapbox derby. Nan was the kind of grandmother who would answer the phone at 2 am to offer support through a crisis. She had a close bond with her grandson John, whom she helped raise and granddaughter Tabitha, who took care of her in her later years.
She is survived by her children, Catherine (Ronald) Heisey, William (Vicki) Byle, and Amos C. Byle III; grandchildren, Bryan, Damien, Justin, Scott, Gregory, Tabitha, John and Temika; eleven great grandchildren; three great- great grandchildren; and a sister Mary Ann Hockley. She is predeceased by her husband, Amos C. Byle Jr.; and siblings, Frank Conner husband of Betty, John Conner husband of Elsie and Betty Fields wife of Ken.
There will be no public services scheduled. A private internment will take place in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery at the family’s discretion.
