Jessica J. Greco Obituary

Jessica “Jessie” Greco, loving mother, sister, partner, and friend passed away on February 14, 2021, in Hershey, PA at the age of 66. She left us far too soon. Jessie was born in Savannah, Georgia to Barbara and Pete Greco on May 17, 1954. She attended Cedar Crest High School and graduated in 1972. She went on to graduate from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania in 1976 where she was a member of TriSigma and majored in Political Science. Her first jobs were in Insurance before moving on to Risk Management in the healthcare field. Hospital Administration is where she found her passion and continued to work in the field at Bon Secours, then as Director of Medical Staff Services at Haywood Regional Medical Center, and as Manager of Provider Credentialing for Sentara Healthcare. She married Joe Hodgson in Arlington, TN in 2006, where she met her match—finally-- in Vanessa, who she would come to know as her daughter.

Full of limitless love and sincerity, Jessie was kind, compassionate, caring, and generous in all that she did. She was involved in volunteer work at Star Ranch in Waynesville, NC. Jessie was a mentor to many and touched many lives throughout her personal and professional career. Jessie was a woman of many strengths. She was known as a peacemaker and her ability to bring parties of seemingly irreconcilable views together in agreement. She was a diehard car-seat dancer and lover of music, the life of the party, and a woman with a boundless heart. The family believes that it is not insignificant that she died on Valentine’s Day and Mardi Gras weekend. She loved walking with her dogs on the beach, as well as listening and dancing to Fleetwood Mac, Little Feat, and Bob Marley. She loved her brother and sister-in-law deeply and felt that her greatest achievement was being a mother to her stepdaughter, Vanessa. Jessie touched many lives through her work and personal life, encouraging all to be better people. She taught us all to understand that there was always, at least, 2 sides to every story.

Jessie will always be remembered for lots of “f” words: her love of Football, Family, Friends, and Furry Creatures.

Jessie is survived by her brother, Charlie Greco, her sister-in-law, Hallie Greco, her daughter, Vanessa Hodgson, her husband, Joseph Hodgson, her aunts, Josephine Youst and Priscilla McFerren, her cousins, Samantha and Edward Ressequie, and Lydia and Andrew Myers, her long time best friend Jan Sommerville Smith, Martin Gaston, Steve Kendjelic, her beloved dog Sophie and her feline companion, Moe.

The family of Jessie is eternally grateful to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Hershey Medical Center for the unparalleled love and compassion they gave continuously while caring for Jessie.

Memorial services will be held on Sunday, May 16, 2021 on the beach in Norfolk, VA. Further details can be obtained by contacting Vanessa or Joseph Hodgson. Memorial contributions may be given in Jessie’s name to the Humane Society or the charity of the donor’s choice.
