Joan L Smith

Joan L. Smith, 86 of Lebanon, passed away in Spang Crest Manor on Sunday February 4, 2018. She was the wife of the late John A. Smith. Joan was born in Lebanon on March 10, 1931 a daughter of the late Harry M. and Martha Miller Peiffer. She was a graduate of Lebanon High School and was employed for 23 years as a cafeteria manager for the district. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church where she faithfully served on the Altar Guild and as a greeter and also a Sunday School Teacher. Joan was recognized by the Lebanon School District as a Friend of Education partially due to her countless volunteer hours she gave to the district. She is survived by children: Donald A. and wife Nancy D. Smith, Columbia, MD; Darin N. and wife Linda Smith, Hughesville; Lois A. Smith, Lebanon; 3 granddaughters; 2 great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by a son: Dennis L. Smith; great-granddaughter: Alyssa Ebersole and a brother: Harry E. Peiffer. Funeral services have been scheduled for Monday February 12, 2018 in the Rohland Funeral Home at 1:00 pm. There will be a time of viewing that day from 12:00 pm. to the time of service in the funeral home. Interment will be made in Grand View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Messiah Lutheran Church, 1800 Oak St., Lebanon, PA 17042.
