

Joseph Callender Mesics passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 in Cornwall Manor. He was born in Pottsville, PA on April 15, 1935, the son of the late Joseph Frank and Laura Callender Mesics. He attended and graduated in 1953 from Phillips Academy, 1957 from Yale University and 1966 from Dickenson School of Law. Except for a brief period of time he practiced law in Lebanon County from 1966 to 2008.
Joe was married to Sandra Bashore on July 5, 1958. They had two children, Joseph C., Jr. and Laura Anne, who died December 25, 2008, and was married to Paul F. May, Jr. They have six grandchildren, Haillie Elizabeth Mesics, Joseph John Mesics, Molly Joan May, Paul Francis May, III, John Joseph May and Matthew James May.
Joe spent a number of years in the United States Navy, on active duty and in the active reserves, retiring as a Commander in the early 1970’s.
He was involved with many local charitable organizations, including St. Lukes Episcopal Church, the Lebanon Valley YMCA, Cornwall Manor, Lebanon Community Library, Lebanon School Board, Lebanon Lions Club, Lebanon County Christian Ministries, also a member of the Phillips Academy Alumni Council.
Joe was an addicted bicycle road rider, who rode over 100,000 miles and raised more than $100,000 for charity, primarily for the Lebanon Valley Family YMCA and Multiple Sclerosis.
He is survived by his wife, son and six grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be made to the Lebanon Lions Foundation or St. Lukes Episcopal Church.
