Kathryn M Kirkwood

Kathryn M. “Kass” Kirkwood, 91, Lebanon, passed away on Friday September 19, 2025 in Juniper Village. She was the wife of the late William M. Kirkwood. Kass was born in Lebanon on December 18, 1933 a daughter of the late Theodore Shindel. She was well-known for her many volunteer activities with the Lebanon VFW Post #23, including being the coordinator for many years for their funeral honor guard. She assisted in honoring many hundreds of veterans over her tenure in that position. She loved her dogs and birds and was an avid Pittsburgh Penguins fan. Kass was a woman who just took care of everyone she knew. She is survived by children: Dan Kirkwood and wife Elaine, Myerstown; Ted Kirkwood and wife Elise, Lebanon; Sue Berkheiser wife of the late George Berkheiser, Lebanon; Don Kirkwood and wife Melinda, Myerstown; Bill Kirkwood and wife Sally, Bethel; son-in-law Mike Newman; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter: Bev Newman; siblings: Ted Shindel and Helen Shyda. Services will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Lebanon County 150 N.
