Marvin A. Gipe

Marvin “Pete” A. Gipe, Jr., 76, of Lebanon, passed away on Monday, May 1, 2017 in the Wellspan Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon. He was the husband of Susan M. Firestone Gipe. He was born in Dauphin county on January 30, 1941, a son of the late Marvin A. Gipe, Sr. and Jennie Hocker Gipe. Pete was formerly employed at the Lebanon Steel Foundry and retired from H. B. Reese’s Candy Co. in Hershey. He was a member of the R. Field and Stream Club of Lebanon. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling and following Penn State football and attending local high school football games. Pete also was an avid Yankees and 49ers fan. Surviving in addition to his wife are children, Brian A. Gipe of Lebanon; Douglas Gipe of Milton, PA; Tom Gipe and wife Peggy of Lebanon; Bonnie Batz and husband Rick of Jonestown; Patty Curtier and husband Scott of Lebanon, numerous grandchildren; sister, Phyllis Holland of Philadelphia; brothers, Robert Gipe and wife Sandy of Myerstown; Steven Gipe and wife Melody of Myerstown. He was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Gipe. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 4th at 10:30 am in Rohland Funeral Home, 508 Cumberland St., Lebanon with a viewing beginning on Thursday at 9:30 am.
