
We are saddened to announce that Rabbi Paula L. Reimers died on June 14, 2023, in Lebanon, PA; she was 75 years old. One of the first cohort of female rabbis, Rabbi Paula was ordained more than 30 years ago and faithfully served the Jewish community with wisdom, compassion, and grace in congregations from Connecticut to Scottsdale to Los Angeles, most recently as rabbi to the Beth Israel Congregation in Lebanon, PA from which she retired several years ago.
Rabbi Paula lived at Cornwall Manor for over two years and was a cherished member of the community. She volunteered at the Treasure Trove Thrift Shop, where she was valued for her spirit, intelligence, and work ethic. Rabbi Paula was an ardent supporter of social justice issues, especially the ethical treatment of animals and environmental rights. She was a member of the board of Cornwall Cats, a feral cat support organization at Cornwall Manor.
Rabbi Paula was predeceased by her husband, Robin Maisel, mother, father, and younger brother. She is survived by her sister, Gigi Miller, her brother-in-law, Rich Miller, her sister-in-law, Merry Maisel, her niece, Kelsey, and her nephew, Will, and great-nephews, Maverick, and Chase. We will miss her loving presence in our lives.
A graveside service for Paula will be held Monday, June 19, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Beth Israel Cemetery, 370 E. Maple St., Lebanon, Pennsylvania 17046.
