Richard Louis Monguzzi passed away peacefully from pancreatic cancer on May 4, 2018. He was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on December 22, 1932, the son of the late Louis and Bertha Kahl Monguzzi. Richard graduated from Bergenfield High School in Bergenfield, New Jersey. He volunteered for the National Guard and the US Army, where he was a member of the Army Signal Corps. In 1956, he married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Ann Riegler. They were happily married for 61 years. After attending Fairleigh Dickinson University, Richard worked as a consultant in electrical engineering and industrial design for many major national companies, where he helped design and construct many complex electrical, sound and power systems. He was founder and president of Mid-Atlantic Systems. Richard was also a certified electrical inspector, and a proud member of the International Association of Electrical Inspectors, the International Code Council, and the Association of Mechanical Engineers. He was also a member of the Garden State Theater Organ Society. After living in North Caldwell, New Jersey for 25 years, Richard moved to Mt. Pocono, Pennsylvania, where he was an active member of the Emerald Lakes community, and contributed numerous volunteer hours as a key member of the building and security committees. Richard, along with his wife Barbara, was a skilled miniature enthusiast, and his electrical designs were recognized in national publications. Mr. Monguzzi is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; daughter Margaret Smith and husband Stephen of Silver Spring, Maryland; daughter Melissa Gianetti and husband Christopher of West Milford, New Jersey, and four granddaughters, Sarah and Catherine Smith, and Jennifer and Gina Gianetti. Visitation for family and friends will be held at Zerr Chapel at Cornwall Manor in Cornwall, PA on Monday, May 14 from 10 – 11 AM, with funeral services following at 11 AM. Interment will be at 1 PM at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
