Sylvia Susannah Brown, 96, formerly of Lebanon, PA, died Saturday, January 22, 2011 in the Slate Belt Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Bangor, PA. She was the wife of the late Claude M. Brown, Sr. She was born July 14, 1914 in Spring Glen, PA a daughter of the late Austin and Bertha Weist Koppenhaver. She was a waitress for over 20 years at the former Treadway Inn in Lebanon and a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Lebanon. She enjoyed cooking big dinners for her family and liked to complete word puzzles and play bingo. Sylvia is survived by a daughter, Shirley wife of Glenwood Bisher of Bangor, PA; son, Claude M. Brown, Jr. and wife Virginia of Annville, PA; grandchildren, Andrew Bisher and wife Maryellen of Bangor, PA; Amy McDonald and husband Tim of New Albany, PA; Diane Goldstein and husband Phil of Mahopac, NY; Jennifer Jensen and husband Steen of Stroudsburg, PA; Donna Bingaman and husband Dave of Annville, PA; Timothy Brown and wife Stephanie of Lebanon, PA; James Brown and wife April of Lebanon, PA; twelve great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the James B. Gaffney Funeral Home, 314 South First Street, Bangor, PA with a viewing beginning on Tuesday at 10:00 AM. Interment will be made in the New Union Cemetery, Myerstown, PA.
