

Wallace F. “Wally” Case, 83, resident of Manheim, passed away in the Heart of Lancaster Hospital on Tuesday, September 13th, 2011. He was born in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., a son of the late Kenneth Macivor and Edna Dennerly Case. He was the husband of Marian Edna Stepan to whom he was married for 62 years. Mr. Case graduated from Springfield College, Springfield MA with a BS in Physical Education and Mathematics, and received a Master’s Degree in Education Administration from the University of Hartford, Hartford, CT. He taught high school mathematics and coached basketball in CT and NY for a total of 42 years. He also served as president of the Teachers’ Association in both states. He loved sports, camp, and traveling. For 25 years, during his summers, he was director at Camp Robin Hood, Lake Ossipee, NH. At Camp Robin Hood he organized one of the first basketball camps, attracting famous professional players to participate. He was also the director at Camp Wildwood, Bridgton, ME for 4 years. He pursued his love of traveling by organizing several exchange programs to Europe for his students, in addition to taking a sabbatical to teach in London, England. Surviving is his wife, five daughters: Deborah Purse of St. Augustine, FL married to William Purse; Sandra Monarca of Cromwell, CT married to Salvatore Monarca; Patricia Rhodes of Hurdle Mills, NC widow of Jerry Rhodes; Laura McKay of South Lyon, MI married to Thomas McKay; Andrea Sudol of Ramsey, NJ married to Robert Sudol; eight grandchildren: Vincent Monarca; Sara Monarca; Lisa Rhodes; Sean McKay; Patrick McKay; Samantha Sudol; Sabrina Sudol; Jack Sudol; two great grandchildren: Derek Wilson and Dylan Wilson; his brother: Kenneth Case of Hawthorne, N.Y. A memorial service will be held Sunday, September 18th, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in the Rohland Funeral Home Inc., 508 Cumberland St., Lebanon, PA., 17042 with the Rev. William Atkinson officiating. A celebration of Wally’s life will be held at Brookshire Community Center, 508 Brookshire Ave., Manheim, PA 17545 from 3:00- 5:00p.m.
