Just found this.  Mr. Case was my high school basketball coach in 1964 and 1965.
A teacher and coach who brought out the best in his students and
players.  Thank you for giving me such wonderful memories of "Camp Robin Hood"
and Bayport's 1965 Championship season.  Rest in peace.

Mr. Case would remember me as "Maralyn "Minx" Rebman from Bayport-Blue Point High School (NY). He was a wonderful teacher who was loved by his students. I was thrilled when he was named Teacher of the Year. He understood my many quirks and helped form me as a person. I don't think I EVER would have passed math if it hadn't been for him. RIP, Mr. Case. Condolences to his loved ones.

Sorry to hear about "Mr. Case", as I knew him when I had him as a math teacher at Bacon Academy over 50 years ago! Really enjoyed his classes and he inspired me to become a math teacher! My brother, Bob, and I have often spoken fondly of Coach Case.  Our parents also enjoyed knowing Wally and Marian.  (Have enjoyed and still have your wonderful fruit cake recipe, Marian.)

To Wally Case's family,
Loved for four years as my math teacher at Bacon Academy. As the basketball coach, he put up with us cheerleaders! I remember his living with his wife and little girls in the house across the park from Bacon where we were always welcomed. A great teacher and coach -- always professional and always patient with his students and athletes. I had Mr. Case for Pre-Calc my senior year at Ledyard and he was always able to relate his daily lessons to life and make math a little more interesting (somehow)for me...

Wally was not only a true professional but a wonderful person.  He handled the "math" anxious with heart and humor.  Our condolences to all his family.   We shall always remember the good times teaching with Wally.  Charlie and Linda Descheneaux

To Mr. Case's family, thank you for sharing such a wonderful person with us, his students.  I will always hold his 'soapbox moments' close to my heart.  He taught so much more than math.  He shared examples from his life and his heart to help us figure out the world. I am changed because of him.  May you all know of the thousands who mourn with you, and may he rest in peace and rise in glory.

My condolences to the family.  I have all good memories of a great teacher.  There was quite a crew in my Pre-Cal class at LHS, and he handled and taught us with a smile on his face.

So sorry to hear the passing of Mr. Case.     I had him as a math teacher and coach in high school at Bacon Academy in Colchester Ct. in the early 1950's.   He was a great teacher to me and rollmodel.           Thomas M. Maikshilo       Colchester Ct.

Mr. Case was one of my most memorable teachers.  I remember him telling us that when life gets too stressful, to take out a page of graph paper and color the blocks.  He would keep graph paper and crayons in his classroom, and he knew his students well enough that if he saw someone just "wasn't right" he wouldn't point it out or interrupt, but rather just get the materials and lay them on the person's desk.  His favorite saying was "I'm from Missouri-show me" when he wanted to demonstrate something.  He also put QED at the end of every problem, and told us that it meant "Quite erratically done"  He's the reason I started scoring basketball.  His first year, he was looking for volunteers, and I am so glad he did.  He coached the boys at Ledyard, and introduced the slow-down game to keep the ball and win.  He was a gentleman, never allowing his team to run up the score to embarrass their opponent.  What always struck me was his demeanor.  He was always soft spoken, never loud, or out of control.  That made people pay attention and listen.  He will be sorely missed.  I wish his family strength in the days ahead.  Thank you for sharing him with us.
