Betty Augusta Dewar passed away in Edmonton, Alberta on Good Friday, March 29, 2024 at the age of 85. She was predeceased by her husband Don and is survived by her children Tammy (Dave) grandchildren Andrew, Louise, Douglas; Phil; and Jenny (Chris) grandchildren Allison and Alexander.
Betty was born on August 6, 1938 on the family farm west of Leduc. She had fond memories of attending school at Cohne Dahl, where she kept her skates on during class time so she was ready to go skating at the school rink during recess times. Betty also enjoyed playing softball, tag, hide and seek, and kick the can. After high school, she worked at the Leduc Representative as a typist until she married Don Dewar on May 23, 1958 and then moved a few miles away to the Dewar family farm, where she raised 3 children.
She was an avid gardener and always had bountiful harvests of fruit and vegetables as well as beautiful flower gardens. Betty was also well known in the community and at her church for all her hours and hours of volunteer work. However, Betty is best known for her huge smile, heartfelt laugh, and her unwavering positive attitude. She will be deeply missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
At Betty’s request, a private Celebration of Life for the immediate family will be held. If desired, donations can be made to The Leduc Food Bank or The Mustard Seed Church Edmonton.
