Constance Marie Roberts, affectionately known as Connie, graced this world on April 20th, 1926, and peacefully departed on February 23rd, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family, in her 98th year. Born in Simcoe, Ontario to Charles and Gertrude Sherman, she held the cherished position of the 2nd oldest among seven siblings.
Connie was preceded in death by her beloved husband Harold, sons Brian and Scott, her parents, sisters Doris, June, Audrey, and Gert, and her brother Bill. She is now reunited with them in eternal peace.
She leaves behind fond memories for her surviving brother Frank Sherman and her sons Barry (Debbie) Roberts and Jeff (Barb) Roberts. Connie's legacy extends to her grandchildren Amanda Roberts (Mike Anderson), Kara Johnson (Sheldon), Jolene Scheetz (Jeremy), Carrie Cleverdon (Courtenay), Christopher, Matthew, and Lucas Roberts. Her great-grandchildren, Isaac, Flynn, Rhea, Mary, Maxwell, Oscar, Alexander, Lily, and Cole, will carry on the warmth of her spirit.
In 1979, Connie and Harold relocated from Streetsville, Ontario to Rocky Mountain House to be closer to their children and to revel in the proximity of the mountains they so dearly loved. In 2016, she embraced a new chapter at Planeview Place in Leduc, followed by her residence at Salem Manor in November 2023.
Beyond her family, Connie found joy in travel, exploring the world in her cozy motorhome with her cherished Yorkshire Terrier, Misty. Her journeys led her to beautiful places and facilitated precious moments with family and friends near and far. A gifted oil painter and seamstress, she found solace in creating art. Outdoors, she thrived, whether camping, fishing, or indulging in her passion for bird watching. A book was always within reach, and knitting or crocheting projects accompanied her on every adventure. Her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her.
A celebration of Connie's life will be held at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church on Saturday, February 24th, at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Tim Richholt, with music by Grace Henderson. Internment at Pine Grove Cemetery in Rocky Mountain House will take place at a later date.
The Roberts family extends heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Harnum, Dr. Byers, and the compassionate staff of Salem Manor and Planeview Place for their exceptional care. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Connie's name to a charity close to your heart, keeping alive the spirit of her generous and loving nature.
