I knew Doug from our years at Nova but didn't really get to spend much time with him until my last tour at TC. Doug was one of those guys that was larger than life in many ways , he seemed to know everyone and everyone that knew him liked him . He always wanted the best solution for the company ,  landowner and contractor , not either or . Always liked to problem solve with him and our forecast meetings were more fun then they should have been but we got the job done .  But the best was when him and I would reminisce about the days we both spent with "MOTHER NOVA", all the characters we knew, the projects we worked on and all the fun . We often discussed how things really hadn't changed that much and how we seem to return to what works or as Doug put it , "It's like the knob on the outhouse door, it goes round and round " . I will miss you dearly my friend , thanks for letting me ride some trail with you .......

My deepest condolences to the family for your loss. In my work with Doug at TC, he always presented himself as a kind, authentic, and empathetic person. He was always willing to guide others in an uplifting way. It is a joy for me to have crossed paths with him and his memory will always be a fond one.

Its always great when business associates become friends.  Doug was just a wonderful guy.  Classic old school.  Down to earth and honest.  Always hard working and he appreciated everyone and every thing. 
He had a unique way about him that I always enjoyed and we shared a sense of humour.  He will be missed.  God speed and Rest finally.

Dougie was a great guy , Ron and I will miss him so much just like everyone who new him , Dougie was a gracious host , Dougie loved Dessert Hot Springs and all his friends there when Ron and I went for a visit Dougie showed us around he took us to the casino  ,he was so proud of his lemon tree , great cook ,he loved his family ,he had the heart and compassion for all condolences to his family  Dougie will be missed .I still talk to Dougie every day he just doesn’t answer But in my heart he hears me 

Doug was a special client of mine. He always had a funny story to tell me when he was around while I cleaned his home. Sometimes our chats would be about his travels, but his favourite subject was about his family and friends. I could tell how special these people were to him and my heart ached as soon as I heard the news of his passing. My last conversation with him, he was telling me about a trip he took with Jason and he chuckled while telling me. I don’t have any living grandparents, so these chats with Doug always felt a little like he was filling in that space I miss with my own grandpa. When he texted to say he was in hospital, I never dreamed that would be the last time I would hear from him. I wish now I had called. Here one minute and gone the next. Life is so fragile. ❤️

Doug's Passing was a shock to us. We thought we had plenty of time to get together with him again. It leaves me feeling empty.

I worked with Doug, hunted with Doug, and enjoyed life with Doug.
I never knew him to be unkind in any way. He took his work seriously and made a difference in the oil and gas environmental world.  He had many friends and this was due in no small way to his positive and uplifting personality.
 Even when you cannot meet with your friends, just knowing that they are there is a comfort.  We still feel that he is with us and I know the feeling will last.
So long Doug and  we hope we will meet again. 

My condolences to Doug’s family and friends, what a wonderful person. Doug was a founding member of the Technical Advisory Committee for the Grassland (Foothills) Restoration Forum in 2006 and continued in that role to the present. Doug was a driving force in wanting to improve reclamation in native grasslands. He was a valuable contributor to GRF initiatives through his foresight, expertise and experience. He generously helped out with funding as well. Doug mentored a number of young professionals that he brought to our events. We’ll miss Doug’s input and his ready smile.

I had the pleasure of working with Doug a few years ago and was truly blessed to know such a kind and funny man.  He always had a story to share and I loved hearing them.  He will be truly missed.  My deepest condolences to his family.

I had the pleasure of working with Doug a few years ago at TransCanada.  Doug was an amazing colleague and truly wonderful to work with.   Although Doug is no longer with us and we should be rightfully saddened by his passing, we should also be grateful that he graced our lives for the time that he did.  You will be missed, Doug.

I met Doug at work in the field sometime in the early 1990s and have worked with him since then.  Such a stellar guy who I thought was immortal.  God bless, Doug!

I am so very sorry to hear of Doug’s passing. Growing up Doug was a big part in our families life. I have very fond memories of going to their farm and seeing the Donkey’s while Grandma and Linda had tea.  He had the best laugh and was the best storyteller in all of Alberta I bet! He treated us like he was an uncle and he will be very missed. Hugs to all his family.
