

on Thursday, February 23rd, 2017 at the age of 86 years after succumbing to a long and courageous battle with Parkinsonism.
Elwood’s kind soul and giving spirit touched so many and will never be forgotten.
Elwood was born to Jack and Eliza Jane Mitchell (nee Laycock) of Radisson, Saskatchewan on September 19th, 1930.
Elwood married Jennie Ruth Skeldon of Saskatoon on June 30th, 1950.
After leaving Saskatoon with Jennie in 1951, Elwood settled in Leduc and worked as a mechanic and machinist until his retirement in 1992.
Elwood is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Jennie, 85.
Elwood is predeceased by all six of his siblings: Melville, Grace, Lila, Doris, Jim and John.
Elwood and Jennie have four children: Colleen Mitchell of Edmonton, Gail Astle of Sherwood Park,
Fay Chorney (and husband Jeff) also of Sherwood Park, and Bob Mitchell (and wife Eulalee) of Edmonton.
They have five grandchildren: Kelsey Bagnall (and husband Brad) of Airdrie, Brandon Astle (and wife Melissa) of Sherwood Park,
Robbie Mitchell of Edmonton, and Chris Chorney and Shaun Chorney, also of Sherwood Park.
They also now have two great grandchildren: Audrey Bagnall and Sasha Astle.
A memorial funeral service will be held at St. David’s United Church located at 4614-48th Street in Leduc, Alberta
on Saturday, March 11th at 1:00 o’clock pm. Elwood chose cremation so there will be no interment to follow.
There will be a light luncheon served after the service.
