Keith was one of a pair of twins born at home on the family farm in Bentley, AB. He grew up living and learning on the farm with his six brothers and sisters. Keith enjoyed farm life, especially harvest time, but when he turned 17, he enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force.
During his early years in the RCAF, Keith learned to fly small planes, and became an Instrument Technician, enabling him to fix a variety of aircraft, especially CF104’s and 105’s. While Keith was stationed in Camp Borden, he met and married the love of his life, Helene Bastien.
They settled into married life in Ottawa, then Toronto, and from there, four years in Europe. During their time in Europe, the family did lots of travelling and camping. Life was a great adventure!
After Europe, the family was transferred to Cold Lake, AB. This was a great opportunity for camping and fishing as there were so many lakes and provincial parks. It was here that Keith decided after 27 years in the Armed Forces, it was time to retire.
He headed off to NAIT to study power engineering. Keith received his diploma, bought their first house in Leduc, and then Keith began working at Sears in Edmonton as their power engineer and maintenance manager. He worked for Sears for 13 years, and then retired for GOOD!
Keith and Helene enjoyed retirement – travelling to many countries, taking cruises, and seeing and doing so many wonderful things together.
Through his life, as well as being blessed with his best friend, his wife, Helene, he was also blessed with his children that he loved and was so proud of, Brian (Diane), Darlene (Terry), Glen (Doris), and Nicole (Scott, who passed in 2015). Keith was also blessed with 11 grandchildren that he enjoyed, loved and watched grow – Amanda (Beau), Jennifer (Mike), Jamie-Lynn, Angela (Trevor), Christopher, Devlin (Sharon), Keith, Mattias, Nikolai, Sophia, and Rayne; as well as 7 great-grandchildren, Hudson, Ruby, Scout, Poet, Aurora, Natalie, and Isaac.
Keith was a kind, generous and loving man, who was also the most wonderful and amazing husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. As his family we will do our best in our lives to touch as many people with the same love, sincerity, and caring nature as he did.
