It is with extreme sadness the family of Marie Hanas (Pankewicz) announce her passing on January 6, 2022. Our Mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away suddenly of heart failure at the Misericordia Hospital.
Marie was born on August 28, 1927 to parents Steve and Jennie Pankewicz of Sunnybrook, AB and spent her childhood years on the family farm.
Marie married Walter Hanas on Sept 4, 1946 and moved to Fisher Home on Pigeon Lake to operate a small general store. Marie also ran the area post office for 23 years.
Marie spent her entire adult life living at Pigeon Lake eventually moving to an adult living facility in Spruce Grove in September 2019
Marie will always be lovingly remembered by her sons William, Dale (Candace), daughter Cindy (Don) daughter-in-law Jane and sister Stella Pankewicz
She will be greatly missed by her five grandchildren Tim, Brett, Greg, Jarad and Jenna; seven great grandchildren Paisley, Emmie, Nathan, Brixlyn, Aspyn, Bauer and Benjamin, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Marie was predeceased by her parents Steve and Jennie Pankewicz, husband Walter, Son David, brothers Pete, John, Fred, Mike and Wasyl Pankewicz and sisters Anne Lickacz and Francis Hook.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. John's Baptist Church in Thorsby or to a charity of your choice.
