She’d survived the stillborn death of a son, years on the move married into the Canadian Armed Forces, a divorce, a second career as secretary at the Town of Wainwright (her first career was teaching) and the raising of three very independence-seeking children.
Walking, gardening, baking and all kinds of crafting made her happy, as did remembering her early years on the farm. She watched sports, especially curling and football, and never missed an opportunity to enjoy live music, whether playing her organ or taking in band concerts.
Most life-enriching to her was time visiting with friends and family, like the summer reunion of 2022. When any of us miss you, we need only wrap ourselves in a quilt that you sewed for us to feel your love.
Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
A memorial will be held at St. David’s United Church in Leduc in Summer 2023.
