Maxine was born on February 15, 1930 in the Telfordville area to Swedish immigrant parents Helmer and Emma Johnson, the last of ten children. She grew up on the farm and attended Templeton School nearby. On June 9, 1950 she married Clarence Dorn and moved to the Dorn farm where they carried on a mixed farming operation with Clarence's parents, John and Eunice Dorn. Children were also raised on the farm including Darrell in 1955, Audrey in 1958 and Dellis in 1960. Maxine stayed on the family farm for nine years after her husband's death in 1989. She then moved to Thorsby where she lived for twenty years, followed by Warburg for four years and finally to Leduc last year. Maxine was a wonderful homemaker in all aspects of her life, including gardening, baking, sewing and lots of various crafts. She also very much enjoyed time spent with family and friends - dancing, playing cards, travelling and visiting.
Maxine Marie Dorn passed away peacefully in Leduc on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at the age of 92.
Maxine will be lovingly remembered by her three children, Darrell (Barbara) of Thorsby, Audrey (Ben) Tobiasson of Warburg and Dellis (Bob) Hanchurak of Beaumont; seven grandchildren, Autumn, Stephen, Victor, Sean, Ian, Justin and Chantel; thirteen great grandchildren and sister-in-law Lauretta Johnson.
