Much beloved wife of George Campbell of Leduc, passed away in Edmonton's Cross Cancer Institute on August 11, 2010 at the age of 81.
Born Ruth Georgina Fisher in Wabigoon, Ontario, Ruth moved with her parents to Dryden, and married George there on June 6th, 1949. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in 1999, and their 60th in Thunder Bay in 2009. They had three children, Arlene (Tyska) of Leduc, Glenn of Thunder Bay, and Brenda Tozer of Kakabeka Falls, Ontario. There are six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two nieces and one nephew.
Throughout her life, this sweet lady loved all wild life and was especially fond of dogs, cats, bears and song birds. She grew plants, and was a creative knitter, and crochet worker and a water color artist of considerable talent.
In Leduc, Ruth volunteered at one time or another, for the Leduc Food Bank, the Adult Education project, the Leduc & District Senior Citizen's Club, the Dr. Woods House Museum, Salem Manor Nursing Home, the Leduc Composite High School Library, and three churches. She was a founding member of the Telford Singers.
Ruth was predeceased by her parents, Melville and Olga Fisher, and her sister, Shirley Dello, and is survived by husband George, her children and grandchildren and an older sister, Marilyn Whitelock of Thunder Bay.
A celebration of Ruth's life will be held at Peace Lutheran Church, 4606 - 48 Street, Leduc on Monday, August 243, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Myeloma Canada or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
