Wilfred Herbert Edward Turner

May 20, 1929April 29, 2021

Wilfred (Wilf) Herbert Edward Turner (Sonny), beloved husband of Margaret Turner of Leduc, Alberta passed away peacefully on April 29, 2021 at the age of 91 years.

Wilf was born in Calgary and always thought of that as his home. His career with Alberta Government Telephones took him to various locations in the province. He was extremely fortunate to retire at age 54 and had more years in retirement than he had worked. He was a talented manager and electronics engineer but he always joked when asked what he did that he spent his time at work shooting flies with elastic bands. He traveled extensively and relished memories of his travels around Europe, Asia and the United States.

He enjoyed the outdoors and moved to the farm after he retired, raising chickens, keeping bees, and gardening. He loved spending winters in Yuma and having his grandkids at the farm all summer, riding bikes for ice cream and teaching them to build.

Later in life he was blessed with a second marriage and expanded family centred in Salmon Arm. He enjoyed volunteering to share his many skills and talents at the Gleaners at Goodwill where he could repair clocks, furniture, and just about anything else.

Wilf is survived by Margaret, his loving wife of 22 years, daughters Cheryl, Diane (Phil), Susan (Robert) and son Randy, step-sons Jim (Ingrid), Gordon (Anna), Irvin (Liz), Alan (Danielle) and step-daughter Jean (Kerry) as well as sisters Phyllis and Roberta (Skip) and brother Don. He had 15 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Wilf is predeceased by his parents Wilf and Gladys Turner, his wife Gladys and two brothers Steve (Paula) and Frank (Bev).

In lieu of flowers, please take a moment to reflect on how Wilf impacted your life.
