Barbara Ann Lowrey Dean, 86 years old, left this life for the next surrounded by love and family at her home on Monday, February 3, 2020. Barbara accomplished many things in her life. She began a career at the State Farm Regional Office in Birmingham where she met the love of her life. She was always an integral part of her husband’s occupation managing his accounting and scheduling. She finished her working career at H&R Block. She was an avid golfer and gardener. Her greatest accomplishments though were raising 5 children and staying married to Bill Dean for 63 years. She was born and raised in Powderly, Alabama to Francis Edward Lowrey and Letie Belle Allgood Lowrey. She graduated from Gulfport High School in Gulfport, Mississippi and attended Howard College (now Samford University). Barbara, affectionately called Babsie by her family, leaves behind her husband of 63 years, William (Bill) Dean, Sr.; 5 children: William F. Dean, Jr. (Terri), Deanna Giles (Joel), Donna Standridge (Daniel), Robert Dean (Cari), Diane Dean; 9 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren; and brother Condie Lowrey. Her loving church family is Calvary Baptist Church in Odenville, Alabama. Services will be held on Thursday, February 13 at Kilgroe Funeral Home in Leeds, Alabama. Visitation will be 10-11 with service to follow at 11:00. Burial will be at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
