Barry Brasher, 67, of Vandiver, Alabama, was born June 30, 1958, and passed away April 2, 2026. Barry will be remembered by those who knew and loved him as a humorous, hard-working, beloved, and kind-hearted man whose presence brought warmth and steady strength to the lives around him.
A graduate of Vincent High School, Barry devoted more than 37 years of service as an HVAC Mechanic at Grandview Hospital, a testament to his hard-working nature and the pride he took in doing things the right way. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and also served his community through the Sterrett and Vandiver Water Board.
Barry found joy in the outdoors and the simple, meaningful rhythms of life. He loved to hunt and fish and was a member of two hunting clubs. He was a fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide, notably getting to enjoy both the Bear Bryant and Nick Saban eras. He also enjoyed maintaining a garden and sharing its produce with loved ones, a reflection of his kind-hearted spirit and generosity.
More than anything, Barry cherished time with family. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandboys—giving them rides on the tractor and 4-wheeler, and teaching them new ways to get into mischief. He was a strong family man and a friend to many throughout the community, able to “cut up” with anyone, whether friends from church, fellow mechanics, or even doctors. Barry was well loved by all who interacted with him and will be remembered for his humor and charismatic personality.
Barry was preceded in death by Charles and Lexie Brasher, his parents; Leonard Brasher, brother; Pam Dawson, stepdaughter; and Brian Brasher, nephew.
Barry is survived by Melondie Brasher, wife; Dewayne Dawson, stepson, (Staci); Danny Brasher, brother, (Joy); Grandchildren: Kayla (Matthew), Brandon, and Christian; Great-Grandchildren: Brady and Asher; and nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Life Service will be at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 2 pm. Officiated by Pastor Tim Lynn.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
