

Bernard Joseph Sciro, 77 of Leeds was called home by our Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 13, 2023. It was a beautiful homecoming as he was welcomed into the arms of Jesus. We can only imagine what a beautiful reunion it was with his loving wife of 53 years.
Bernard was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Ann. He is survived by his daughters Nancy Mendiola (Roy), Ann Farmer (Dan) and his five beautiful grandchildren, Caitlin, Connor, Colin, Isabella and Sophia.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Nancy Marino Sciro and his brothers Pete Sciro and Leonard Sciro.
Bernard was born August 10, 1945 in the community of Norwood in Birmingham. He is a first generation Italian American. He graduated from St. Paul's Catholic School and John Carroll Catholic High School. He was a devoted husband and father loved by all that met him.
Bernard never met a stranger. He is known for his positive and loving attitude. He had several loves, his wife Mary Ann, his girls and anything history.
Bernard worked hard to provide but always made family time a priority. Bernard worked for Victory Products and later Golden Flake and UAB Hospital. Bernard loved to give back. He was often seen at Walmart volunteering his time to collect money for Children's Hospital.
Bernard was a member of St. Joseph Church in Ensley for fifty years and a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church for over twenty years. He was very involved with the youth group " GALA".
Bernard loved to help others and was always the first to jump in and see how he could make a difference even if it was just making you smile.
Celebration of Life will be Tuesday, May 16th at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Leeds. Visitation is at 9 am, followed by a mass at 10:30 am. Burial will be at Oakland Memorial Gardens.
