Betty Pickens Smith

Betty passed away February 20, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Mary Pickens, her brother James Pickens, sisters Louise Hodges and Jane Barker. Her son Christopher preceded her in April 2025;

Betty was born in Birmingham Alabama February 28th 1949. The family moved to Moody while Betty was just a baby. She attended Moody school thru the 9th grade and graduated from St Clair County High School in May of 1967 and was married August 18th 1967 to Roger Smith. They lived in Arlington Texas for several years where their two sons were born.

Betty loved to travel and after they retired they took a cruise every year and long road trips up to 25 days in length. They visited 44 states and 10 foreign countries during their retirement.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years Roger, son Greg, grandsons Chandler and Christian. Granddaughters Katlyn and Haley.

Visitation will be held at Kilgroe Funeral Home in Leeds, Alabama, on February 28, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A Celebration of Life will follow at the same location, beginning at 11:00 am.
