Brenda Gayle Davis 82, a devoted mother, proud Nana, and lifelong resident of Leeds, Alabama, passed away surrounded by love and family.
A graduate of Leeds High School, she went on to marry the love of her life after a blind date set up by dear friends Raymond Veasey and Ann Carr—a match that led to a lifetime of laughter, love, and partnership.
She was the heart of her home, raising four daughters—Kimberly Lane, Kristen Leigh, Karen Diane, and Deanna Gayle—with compassion, strength, and a touch of humor. As a stay-at-home mom, she poured her love into her family every single day.
In her early adult years, she discovered a talent for painting and found joy in creating works of art, many of which she gifted to friends and family.
Throughout her life, she worked in various administrative roles, but her true passions were rooted in history—especially Alabama history—and creating memories in the kitchen. She had a special way of drawing people together around food, especially during Alabama football weekends, when friends would gather and she’d serve up some of her best dishes, all while keeping one eye on the game to humor her husband’s enthusiasm.
She adored her grandchildren and delighted in cooking for them—often coaxing them to try new things by offering a nickel as motivation.
Her lighthearted spirit shone through in everything she did—especially when dancing the jitterbug, a favorite pastime that reflected her spunk. One of her happiest places was Panama City Beach, where she returned year after year to soak up the sun, enjoy being with family.
She is survived by her loving husband, W.J. Davis; her daughters, Kimberly (Bruce), Kristen (Lee), Karen, and Deanna (Bob)— her grandchildren—Ashley Elizabeth Moore, John Michael Moore, Michael Davis Tipton, Jeffrey Clark Moore, Emma Kristen Williams, and Molly Elizabeth Tipton—who brought her endless joy. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Bruce Moore, and two grandchildren, Matthew and Caitlin Moore.
There will be a gathering of loved one's and friends on Friday, July 11, 2025 at Kilgroe Funeral Home, Leeds from 1:00PM until 3:00PM.
