Carol Elizabeth Webster Weems (born August 15, 1946 in Pascagoula, Mississippi) went to her heavenly home on September 29, 2021. She had been in St Vincent’s hospital for two and a half weeks after suffering a major heart attack.
Carol was a devoted wife to her husband (Roger)of 56 years. They shared life together with their travels and love of horses and shopping for antiques. Carol loved her family. She did everything for her two children, Joey and Robin. Carol shared her live with her mother and sisters. They got together almost every day for lunch and shopping (and probably a little gossip).
When Carol was in her twenties she got to work with her beloved Tennessee Walking Horses at Tex Smith Stables. She groomed and fed and walked those big giants fulfilling her dream. Show time came on Saturdays and Carol was right there at the ring side beaming with pride for her “babies”
Carol’s other passion was a Welsh singer named Tom Jones. She first met Tom at a Birmingham concert in 1969. She was fortunate to travel extensively to over 100 Tom Jones concerts in the next 50 years. When Tom was in Las Vegas we would go out and attend his shows every night. She had the privilege of calling Tom Jones a friend and we would meet with him backstage when it was possible.
Carol is survived by her husband, Roger Weems, her son Joey Weems, her daughter, Robin Weems Cole (Mike), four grandchildren, Dylan, Lindsey, Blaine and Gabriel, and one great-grandchild, Kehlani Ray.
Carol was predeceased in death by her father, William Webster and her mother, Hazel Lawless Webster and her sisters Billie Jean Ragsdale and Faye Falkner and her brother, Ray Webster.
Carol gave her life to the Lord in 1979 and was baptized at Irondale First Baptist by our dear friend and pastor, Dr. George Slater. On the day of her death she told Roger that she had made her peace with the Lord and she was ready to die. She asked him to pray over her and sing to her. He sang “Amazing Grace” and “It is Well With My Soul.” That gave her great peace and solace. She passed away very peacefully later that day with Joey by her side.
