Columbus Falkner, Jr. “June” age 96, was born January 6, 1923, and passed away peacefully on January 31, 2019. To family and close friends, he was known as “June” because he was a junior. After precious grandchildren arrived, he became our sweet “Daddy June”. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joy, whom he was married to for 55 years. Sisters: Louise White and Lib Sulser. Brother: Dud Falkner. He is survived by his son: John Falkner (Marjorie). Grandchildren: Jennifer Cabbage (Ryan) and Justin Falkner (Jami). Great-Grandchildren: Carson Cabbage, Maddox Cabbage and Davis Cabbage. Gentry Falkner and Colin Falkner. June trained as a Bombardier in a B-29 bomber with the Army Air Corp and served our great country to the end of WWII in November of 1945. After his service was over, he became a master plumber in Birmingham, Alabama, his birthplace. He was in business with his brother. After many years of hard, manual labor, June retired. He and Joy moved to Lake Martin in Alabama, where they built a lovely home. Lake Martin was a very special place to them as they had previously owned a week end cabin there for many years.

The funeral will take place on Monday, February 4th at 12:00PM in the Chapel at Kilgroe Funeral Home in Leeds, Al. Visitation will be from 11-12:00PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorial be sent to CHILDREN'S HARBOR at www.childrensharbor.com

A great friend, we go way, way back. First met June & Joy when we rented
their down stairs apartment in East Lake.
Johnny, a very young boy, he & Bill would catch roaches to fish.
Joy &June talked Bill & I to ski (we had lot of fun) Was I a mess, was not easy
for me to learn.
We traveled together, one trip to Las Vegas. June almost missed our flight home (we do not know if he won or lost) haha
Love to u June, u will be missed
