

Curtis "Luke" McCoy passed away at the age of 87 on July 26, 2024. Curtis is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Lois Hubbard McCoy; his son Terry Ray McCoy (Sandra), his daughter Beverly Ferguson (Carlton), and his two precious granddaughters, Meghan Stewart (Robert) and Kimberly Martin (Jeff). Other survivors are two sisters, Emma Landess (Donald) and Virgie Gilliam, brother Woody McCoy, sister-in-law Mary Jo McCoy, many nieces and nephews, and his loving church family of Limbaugh Chapel.
Born one of ten children on June 11, 1937, in Raccoon, Kentucky, Curtis is preceded in death by his parents Abram and Bernie Hess McCoy, his brothers, Jim McCoy, Palmer McCoy (Audrey), Carlos McCoy (Donna Miller), his sisters, Blanche Maynard (Marion), Edna Wright (Mark), Elgie Collins (Redford), and brother-in-law David Gilliam. Curtis and Lois moved from Kentucky to Ohio for better opportunities, and then later moved to Alabama where he worked at LeHigh Cement Plant.
Curtis was a man of God that taught his children and granddaughters by example. He attended church faithfully and taught Sunday school at the First Assemblies of God in Ohio. For the past 46 years, he has attended Limbaugh Chapel where he has many close friends. He never had a harsh word for anyone, and he could not stand to hurt anyone. Curtis retired from LeHigh after 49 years where he drove rock trucks, operated a crane, and just worked hard.
A Visitation will be held on Friday August 2, 2024 from 12:00-1:00 PM from the Chapel of Kilgroe Funeral Home in Leeds, Alabama with a Funeral Service to follow at 1:00 PM. Burial will be at Forest Crest Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Jeff Martin, Robert Stewart, Brandon Bates, Glen Bates, Donald Chandler, Pastor Philip Epperson, Steven Parker, Larry Wallace, Allen Miller, and Mike Feazell.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Limbaugh Chapel Church, P.O. Box 6352, Talladega AL 35160.
