

David Charles “Charlie” Hitechew, a longtime resident of Leeds, Alabama, passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. Charlie was born in Roan Mountain, Tennessee, and served proudly in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He finished his naval career at the Naval facility in Barbados. Charlie later worked for UPS, formerly Overnight, until his retirement.
Charlie is preceded in death by his parents, Vester and Larnie Julian; his beloved wife, Virginia Carter; and siblings, Loman Hitechew, and Beula Garland.
Charlie is survived by his son, David James (Michael-Alyson); grandchildren, Chase (Lindsey), Taylor (Kala), Samuel (Savana), Davis (Gracie), Eli (Abigail), Scotty-Alyson, and Maggie; great grandchildren, Easton, Georgia Katherine, Lenny, and Gabriella; siblings, Jerry Hitechew, Francis Heaton, and Melani Munday; and serval nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

Visitation is Tuesday, July 29, 2025, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at Kilgore Funeral Home in Leeds, Alabama. A committal service and burial will follow at 11:45 a.m. at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo.
