Dennis Robert Missildine, age 83, of Sterrett, Alabama, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2026. Born on September 26, 1942, Dennis lived a life defined by courage, service, and steadfast love for his family.
A 1962 graduate of Tarrant High School, Dennis enlisted in the United States Navy on June 22, 1962, proudly serving his country until his honorable discharge on August 29, 1966. His servant’s heart continued at home when he joined the Birmingham Fire Department in March 1970. For 25 years, he faithfully protected and served his community, forming lifelong bonds with his fellow firefighters.
Dennis was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Martha “Tiny” Missildine; his parents, Tobe and Louise Missildine; and four brothers and two sisters. Though he deeply missed those who went before him, he carried their memory with strength and quiet faith.
He leaves behind a legacy of love through his children: Jeffrey Scott Cooper (Patty), Eric Shane Missildine (Sandy), and Melissa “Lisa” Cooper Spradley (Dwayne). He was a proud grandfather to Joshua Caleb Spradley (Mary Anne), CJ Fairbrother, Micah Shane Missildine, and Magdalene “Maggie” Jesse Missildine, and a joyful great-grandfather to Lily Grace Spradley and Timothy Isaac Spradley. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.
Dennis will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend — a man of quiet strength, steady hands, and a generous heart.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” – Matthew 25:23
