

“Cool Don” Attaway was born in Alabama and raised in Little Bit of Everywhere U.S.A. Like his father, “Cool Don” joined the military in October of 1969 where he served our country in the Vietnam War in the Marine Corps. He obtained Lance Corporal within the Marine Corps he was a proud veteran. After his time in the Marine Corps he began working at the St. Clair County Correctional Facility as a correctional officer. After 20 plus years “Cool Don” retired from his state job and returned home to what he loved most, his family. Oh, and let’s not forget fishing and Alabama Football.
Wayne leaves behind his loving wife of 45 years , Debbie Attaway. This love produced a marital nest of children and grandchildren that Wayne adored. You can best believe that Wayne’s family is where his treasure was because that’s where his heart was. His presence will be surely missed by all his family and friends.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Doris Caddell Attaway and Huel Dale Attaway and great granddaughter, Carmen Lopez.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife, Debbie Hyde Attaway; children, Melissa Attaway Anderson (Chris), Jennifer Attaway Sarich (Scott); grandchildren, Delilah Attaway, Samantha Hand, Ryan Rhodes, Kristen Rhodes, Shelby Hand, Kaiden Hand, Bella Anderson, Mary Anderson, and David Anderson and great grandchildren, Sophia Sanchez, Mia Lopez, and Manny Sanchez, as well as, a host of brother’s, sisters, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at Kilgroe Funeral Home, Leeds from 1:00PM until 2:00PM. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at Kilgroe Funeral Home, Leeds beginning at 2:00PM with burial to follow at Sulphur Springs Cemetery in Trussville, AL.
