Dr. Sara Lou McLaughlin

Dr. Sara Lou McLaughlin, age 90, of Leeds, Alabama passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2022. Dr. Sara was born February 23, 1932. She is preceded in death by her husbands, Joseph (Jodie) Barton Connell and Burke McLaughlin; son, Philip Brad Connell; parents, Luther P and Lillian Armstrong; brother, Jimmie Ray Armstrong; granddaughter, Taylor Marie Connell. She is survived by her sons, Joseph Barton Connell Jr. and Eric Brian Connell (Carla); granddaughters, Molli Christian Connell (Dalton Hughes) and Erika Nichole Connell; great-granddaughter, Piper Reese Hughes. She was an educator for forty plus years and was a member of Leeds United Methodist Church. She was a part of the Leeds Historical Society and received her Doctorate of Education from Auburn University. She received the Leeds Citizen of the Year Award in 2010 and was Homecoming Queen of Jacksonville State Teachers College in 1951. Special Thanks to Compassion Comforters and to Lynn. A visitation will be held on Wednesday April 13, 2022 from 12:00-1:00PM with a service to follow at 1:00PM. Burial will be at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
