Euel Musgrove

Euel is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Billie Frances Creel Musgrove; his children: Susan Nelms and husband, Ken; Lisa Kyle; Mark Musgrove and wife, Sandra; Celia Smith and husband, Randy; John Musgrove and wife, Donna. Two brothers: Ronald Musgrove and wife, Penny; Don Musgrove, and wife, Myrtle. One sister, Hilda Kimmons and husband, Richard. Eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews, and other precious family members.

Euel was born in River Falls, Alabama on September 11, 1927 to Bura J. Musgrove and Sudie Pearl Johns Musgrove. At 18, he joined the US Navy, during the end of WWII. He proudly served his country for four years. When he returned home to Birmingham, he saw a lovely young lady sitting on her porch swing, across the street from his parents' home. He immediately introduced himself to her, they began dating, and were married the next year. He has always said that that God had chosen her just for him. In 1957, Euel, Billie, and family moved to Leeds, where they became members of St. Theresa Catholic Church. Euel was a faithful member and servant of his beloved church all his life. His church presented him with the Nils Gimberg Award in 2004 for Outstanding Parish Ministry.

Euel was employed by Hayes Aircraft and a member of UAW Local 1155. After retiring, he began serving his community as a driver for the American Red Cross; volunteer and director of Leeds Welfare (Leeds Outreach). He provided transportation to shut-ins and the elderly of the community, and volunteered at various outreach centers. Euel was nominated twice and was named Citizen of the Year by the Leeds Chamber of Commerce in 2006.
