

Evelyn Jo Bishop of Moody, AL passed away on November 1, 2025, at the age of 90. Ms. Bishop was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas (Bud) Bishop, her daughter, Sheila Isbell, and her great-granddaughter, Jesika Kitchens. She is survived by her daughters, Kellie Schwendner and Missy Lawley (Darrell), six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Jo, or JoJo, as she was called by many, had a beautiful voice and as a teen was often called upon to sing in church. She was a member of a quartet that traveled to churches around the area singing the gospel. She also loved embroidering and made many beautiful quilts. She loved spending time with friends and family and was often ‘out with the girls’ before she became homebound. Once confined to home, she became an avid fan of GRIT television and the old westerns…so much so, that the GRIT logo is burned into her tv display!Professionally, she worked at a bank in her younger years then later, she had a daycare in her home. She later worked at The Pants Store and retired after many years.
She recently informed her daughter, “I’ve had a happy life.”
Graveside services will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Crest Cemetery, 5730 US-798, Birmingham, AL 35210.
