She is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Bill Chamness and her daughter Darlene Chamness Davis. Evelyn along with her husband, Rev. Bill Chamness, were founders of the Peaceful Valley Baptist Church in Moody, AL.

She is survived by her daughter, Donna King (David); granddaughter, Denise Jones; grandson, Jason Stone (Jennifer); great-granddaughter, Hannah Jones; Great-grandsons, Austin Jones and Declan Stone; adopted daughter and granddaughter, Bonnie and Pam Johnston; special friend, Charles Adams; and multiples nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and a host of friends.

The family will receive friends Friday, May 26, 2017, from 6PM until 8PM at Kilgroe Funeral Home in Leeds.

Mrs. Chamness will lie in state Saturday, May 27, 2017, beginning at 1PM with funeral services to follow at 2PM at Peaceful Valley Baptist Church in Moody, AL. Burial will follow at Branchville Cemetery.
