Freida Ann VanMeter

Freida was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord and took great care in pleasing Him in everything she did. She lived her life by the Golden Rule, always making sure she treated everyone with respect and kindness.

She was considerate, loyal, fun-loving, supportive, and thoughtful. She loved unconditionally, valued fairness, and was a woman of integrity. Nothing made her happier than to be with her family. While we take comfort knowing she is now at peace, we will miss her so much.

Freida was preceded in death by her parents, Wilburn and Dora McMurry; brother, Richard McMurry; and niece, Cindy Kirn. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Charlie VanMeter; son, David (Angelyn) Johnson; daughter, Susie; sister, Frances (Al) Robinson; grandchildren, David (Charlotte) Johnson, Daryl (Kaley) Johnson, Ashley (Stephen) Young, Anna Flebotte, Emma Flebotte; great grandchildren, Kaleb Driskill, Ava Johnson, Noah Young, Sadie Young; niece, Stephanie (Chad) Page, and many cousins, family, and friends whom she loved dearly.

We would like to thank Enhabit Hospice for their exceptional and compassionate care the last few months, especially Jennifer, Betty, Kory, Tanya, Megan, and Kimberly. And a special thanks to Makeda Dillard and Deborah Butler. You are all angels on Earth.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023 at Kilgroe Funeral Home, Leeds from 1:00PM until 2:00PM. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023 at Kilgroe Funeral Home, Leeds beginning at 2:00PM with burial to follow at Sulphur Springs Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Freida requested donations to the Sjogren’s Foundation in honor of her granddaughter, Ashley Young.
