Jackie D. Everett was born on November 28, 1944 to parents Ruby Roulaine and Bobby Everett. He was one of two children born to Bobby and Ruby and grew up in Argo with his sister Bernice. His maternal grandmother Fannie affectionately known as “Big Mama” was his disciplinary and role model while growing up.
He joined the US Army and was a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division for four years and loved his country.
Jack was a hardworking man who worked in law enforcement at the Leeds Police Department before moving into the millwright profession for many years. He would eventually retire as a foreman with Schreiber in Trussville.
Jack enjoyed long Harley rides with his close group of friends and wife of 31 years Wanda. He became a member of the Ashville Masonic Lodge and eventually a Master Mason serving in 2010/2011. He was passionate about studying the bible and loved mentoring his friends and family.
Over the years he took care of so many and had a heart of gold. If anyone ever needed anything they always went to Jack.
Caring for his family became his calling especially later in life.
He adopted Joe and Clay Everett helping with their upbringing, and then went on to take care of his brother-in-law Joey Wyatt who was born with down syndrome, his mother who was on dialysis, his elderly father-in-law Ray Wyatt and then his wife Wanda. He was her caregiver for many years after she lost her vision due to health issues. He truly had a servant’s heart.
