James Randall “Randy” Brasher, 69, of Vandiver, Alabama passed away April 15th, 2025. He was preceded in death by his son, Taylor Brasher and his parents, Houston and Marjorie Brasher. He is survived by his daughter, Lenzy (Clay) Tipton; sons, Rand Brasher and James Kendrick; grandsons, Noah Tipton, Connor Kendrick and Brantley Kendrick; sisters, Gail (Gary) Dutton and Judy (Ronny) Seals; and several nieces and nephews, who knew him as “Bubba”.
Randy graduated from Vincent High School in 1973 and went on to work for his father, who taught him the art of hardscape construction. They worked alongside each other for several decades until Randy took over the business after Houston’s passing.
Randy was an unwavering fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide, an avid sports fan, and enjoyed a range of hobbies throughout his life from skiing and bowling to golfing and fishing. As a vintage car enthusiast of over 30 years, Randy was most recently a member of the Clear Creek Car Club. He restored countless vehicles and earned a number of accolades at car shows he participated in across the Southeast. Some of his most treasured memories were attending cruise-ins with his sisters, brothers-in-law and friends.
Randy found his ‘happy place’ on Logan Martin Lake. He relished his time on the water and was fortunate to spend the last phase of his life there, surrounded by his kind and supportive friends and neighbors in the Clear Creek Harbor Community that he loved so much.
The family would like to extend their sincere and heartfelt appreciation to Sandi Lolies. Her dedication and compassionate care allowed Randy to stay home, where he was happiest and most content. There are no words that would adequately express our eternal gratitude.
Like everyone, Randy faced challenges, yet he was skilled far beyond most and had a sense of adventure like no other. He lived life to the absolute fullest, never shy to share his opinion, was punctual to a fault and his satirical honesty will always go unmatched.
The family invites loved ones to celebrate his life Thursday, April 24th at Vandiver Church of God in Vandiver, Alabama with a visitation from 4-5pm and memorial service following.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to The Angelman Syndrome Foundation in memory of Randy’s special angel, his son Taylor Brasher; or to The Shelby County Special Olympics in honor of his “partner”, his son Rand Brasher.
