James Allen Rich, age 67 of Leeds, AL passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2022. Infamously known as "BIG AL," by family and friends, he loved all things Alabama Football (ROLL TIDE!), and even hosted the family's annual "Turkey Bowl" on Thanksgiving for the real deal experience. Allen loved each of his siblings. Being the youngest of 15, he was their baby to spoil and spoiled they did! At dinners full of good food, he couldn't be missed when his booming voice could be heard giving the latest football stats, or reminiscing on old times. He loved making new memories, the most recent and exciting, becoming a "Happy Pappy AL," for the very first time last year, and once again this year, and being the proudest one at that. He was indeed a big man with a even bigger heart, and after a long health battle is finally resting peacefully and pain free in Jesus' arms. James is preceded in death by his parents Elige F. Rich & Ethel Lowery Rich; 5 sisters; 4 brothers; son James Allen Rich II; daughter Tamaran Michelle Rich, and 1 grandchild. He is survived by his daughter, DouVena Rich Adams (Jacob); granddaughter Emerald DeLane Adams; grandson Waylon Anthony Allen Adams;niece by blood, but daughter by choice Emily Isbell (Thomas); special niece Jessica Bowers; sisters Stella Woodard, Linda Standifer, Martha Hicks (Sam), Brenda Isbell (Terry), and Deborah Mardis (Mike); sisters in love Ann Rich and Gale Rich.Numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Visitation and Funeral will be held from 12pm to 2pm on Friday, December 9, 2022 at Kilgroe Funeral Home in Leeds, AL. Followed by graveside services at Bold Springs Cemetery 7544 Cahaba Valley Rd, Birmingham, AL 35242.
