Joan Dawkins Cole

Joan Dawkins Cole, 68 of Leeds, AL gained her wings on December 3, 2021. Joan was born in Birmingham, AL and grew up in Leeds. She was a longtime member of Rose Hill Freewill Baptist Church where she was the Children's Church teacher until her stroke.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Girvis and Minnie Dawkins; sisters, Mary Jo Norwood, Weleene Harris, Shirley Welborn, Elizabeth McCay "Libby"; brothers, Leon J. Dawkins and Rev. Louis C. Dawkins.

Joan is survived by her husband of 50 years, Lester Butch Cole, Sr.; son, Lester Butch Cole, Jr., daughter, Karen Cole (Nate); grandchildren, Tevin Cole (Xenobia), Trevon Riggs, Breanna Riggs, and Makayla Riggs; great grandchildren, Azariyah and Aniylah Cole; sisters, Shelby Violante, Virginia Brown; brother, Kenneth Dawkins and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at Kilgroe Funeral Home, Leeds from 6:00PM until 8:00PM. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at Kilgroe Funeral Home, Leeds beginning at 11:00AM with graveside service to follow at Forest Crest Cemetery.
