John M Black, age 96, of Birmingham, Alabama passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2024. He is preceded in death by his father, Edgar Black; mother, Florence Black; wife, Mary Black; daughter, Elaine Jolley; brother, Joe Black; sisters, Eula Layton, Mamie Weathers and Margaret Hazen.
John is survived by his daughter, Phyllis B. Shannon (Johnny); grandchildren, Michael Jolley (Deanna), John Shannon, Brad Shannon, Matt Shannon (Stephanie); great grandchildren, Lauren Jolley, Layla Jolley, Nate Jolley, Noah Hove, Jonah Hove, Evan Shannon, Rasmus Frazier, Zimri Hill and Bellamy Shannon; brother, Eugene Black.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at Kilgroe Funeral Home from 12:00PM to 1:00PM. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at Kilgroe Funeral Home beginning at 1:00PM with burial to follow at Forest Crest.
